In Naturheilpraxis LoDi treatment is oriented towards patients and their specific symptoms, just as it is traditionally in TCM.
TCM treatment is characterized for being very personalized and patient oriented.
Its aim is to eliminate not only the symptoms of ailments but rather to get rid of the cause or origin of illness.
The amount and frequency of the treatment depends upon the type of affliction and the course of the treatment.
Treatment begins with the elaboration of a thorough anamnesis, i.e. medical history, which is basically an extensive interview
to get to know the ailments of the patient. This first appointment, combined with pulse and tongue diagnosis will allow the
creation of a corresponding therapy strategy and thus the healing journey begins.
The therapeutic strategy is the foundation of all subsequent treatment sessions.
It dictates the evolution of recovery and makes it possible to calculate a first estimation regarding the length of the treatment.
Approximately 2 hours will be needed in the first appointment for the anamnesis. Afterwards, around 6 follow-up
appointments are to be expected. Acute disorders tend to require less treatment sessions while chronic disorders require
a lengthier treatment. Usually, 1 treatment session per week is the norm. In the case of acute ailments, 3 sessions per
week might be more recommended. Treatment appointments for severe or chronic illnesses might lie up to 3 weeks apart from each other.
The syndrome doctrine of TCM differentiates between Ben (root) and Biao (branch or manifestation) and
encourages the treatment of both the root and its manifestation. To give an example, if someone is suffering from a
deficiency disorder, the goal of the treatment would be to nourish and tonify using corresponding acupuncture
points and a specific diet. In case of a general qi deficiency, qi is tonified. If the deficiency is concrete, e.g. a
deficiency of spleen qi, then the spleen is tonified and nourished. If a blockage is present,
the blockage is released and the cause removed. Coldness is treated with warmth, e.g. with Moxibustion or warming acupuncture points.
Based on the goal of the treatment and the underlying pattern, different therapy methods are applied in Chinese Medicine.
The employed methods in Naturheilpraxis LoDi are acupuncture, moxibustion, gua sha, cupping, dietetics and yoga poses or asanas instead of qi gong.
